Hi everyone! August has just started and it's sweltering hot here in Rome (it's 40 degrees outside!).

 

In the last articles we told you about the beauty essentials we always bring with us when we go to the beach ( "What's In My Beach Bag? - our favorite beach beauty essentials" ) and we gave you a few tips to prepare yourself for a day at the beach - like keeping yourself hydrated, drinking a lot of water, and trying herbal teas for a flatter stomach during the day ( "6 TIPS To Get Ready For The Beach - flatter stomach and beauty tips" ).

 

Today we want to give you some suggestions and some easy steps to follow to get the best tan and to make it last longer.

Before to start remember that we all are different and that for some people it's easier to get a tan than others.

Darker skin with more pigment will tan more easily and quickly than lighter skin.

 

 

Furthermore, some people have more sensitive skin than others and need to be more careful, keeping out of the sun during the hottest times of the day.

What's In My Beach Bag? - our favorite beach beauty essentials

Hi everyone! Today is the last day of July, the weather is super hot and we are ready to share with you our favorite beauty essentials we always bring with us when we go to the beach!

A few weeks ago we wrote an article giving you 6 tips to get ready for the beach. One of the tips was to remember to prepare your beach bag bringing with you everything you might need. We know, packing your beach bag can be very stressful, since there are hundreds of things you don't want to forget: you need to bring your beach towels, your flip flops, sunglasses and so on. But we suggest you to bring with you also some beauty essentials for your face, hair and body. As we've already said in a previous article, "being makeup free all day is very healthy for your skin but can make you feel very self-conscious too, if you are not used to it. And having with you some products to fix your appearance now and then, will make you feel more relaxed." 

- Sunscreen & coconut oil

Going to the beach is our favorite way to spend hot summer days. We love to feel the sun tanning our skin and to swim in the sea. But you need to know that the sun and sea water can be really damaging for your body and hair. So don't forget to bring with you a good sunscreen to protect your skin and just smooth a small amount of coconut oil over your hair to protect them from salt water!

- Facial cleansing gel

Applying sunscreen on your face is very important, but we hate how it can leave our skin oily all day. So we usually bring with us our facial cleansing gel and use it when we feel that sweat and cream are making our face too greasy.

6 TIPS To Get Ready For The Beach - flatter stomach and beauty tips

Hi everyone! We're sorry we didn't have the time to write many articles this week but we're here to remedy :) This has been our first week of holidays and we have had a very relaxing time. We also had our very first day at the beach and we had so much funwe love the feeling of the sun tanning our skin, walking to the water's edge, the sand under the feet, and relaxing to the sound of waves breaking!

 

Today we want to give you a few tips to prepare yourself for a day at the beach and to feel more confident and comfortable wearing a swimsuit. 

But before we start, we'd like to remember you a very important rule you don't want to forget.

 FIRST RULE: remember that you're going to the beach to have fun and enjoy some time with your friends or family. So try not to worry much about your appearance: of course you want to look good but remember people don't care about how you look as much as you think they do! This summer try to feel good in your own skin for what you are (on the inside and out) - no matter if you think you should lose some pounds or you don't like how your hair look after a sea bath: put a smile on and FORGET IT. Smiling raises your confidence (and we are all different and beautiful in our own way - flaws and all).

DIY coffee scrub - face and body mask for a perfect tan

It’s summertime and we all surely have just one thing on our mind: how to get the right tan! We personally love when our skin get tanned so that we can easily avoid wearing almost any makeup (check yesterday's article "Fresh summer night makeup" if you missed it) and let's be honest: we all look better with a tan! But to get your skin smooth and bronze there are some things you should keep in mind.

 

The first one (that we do all year round but especially in summer) is making sure to exfoliate regularly. In fact, exfoliating helps get rid of dead skin cells that may ruin your perfect tan! So today we have prepared a surprise for you: the recipe of our favorite homemade scrub ever! We can't wait for you to try it and tell us how it worked for you. We are also preparing a new article with more tips to get the perfect tan so stay tuned not to miss it!

However, before we start, remember that exfoliation can increase sun sensitivity, making your skin more vulnerable to sun damage. So we suggest you to use this scrub once or twice a week in the summer and to avoid it on days you plan on going to the beach or being outdoor in the sun for extended periods of time. During winter months, use it no more than 2/3 times a week not to irritate your skin.
